Benin City, Nigeria — In a series of landmark unveilings, the Edo State Governor has taken bold steps to reinforce the state’s cultural heritage and creative potential. Since last week, a variety of transformative projects have been commissioned, aimed at elevating the state’s profile as a hub of art, film, and history while promoting local creativity and community development.

Accompanied by notable dignitaries, including former Imo State Governor Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha and Cross River State’s Donald Duke, the Governor toured the newly launched Museum of West African Art (MOWAA) Institute and Campus, the Edo Film Project Residence (Edonimose), and the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub Post Production Centre. Also part of the tour was an inspection of the ongoing Radisson Hotel Project, all located within the Benin City metropolis.

MOWAA, positioned as the cornerstone of the newly envisioned Cultural District, stands as a preservation site for West African heritage, enabling visitors to immerse themselves in Edo’s historical wealth. This cultural district is set to attract visitors from across the globe, providing a firsthand experience of Edo State’s heritage in a dedicated, purpose-built environment.
“Our vision for Edo as the home of culture is now a reality, creating spaces where the richness of our heritage can be experienced by all,” stated the Governor.
