The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has urged Nigerians to unite in a 40-day prayer and fasting initiative aimed at addressing the economic and social challenges plaguing the nation. This spiritual intervention, set to commence on January 6, 2025, is intended to seek divine relief from the country’s struggles and lay the foundation for a prosperous future.
During a press briefing in Abuja, PFN President Bishop Francis Wale Oke, alongside Deputy President Archbishop John Daniel, announced that the program will conclude with a nationwide prayer gathering in the capital on February 14, 2025. This event will also precede the PFN’s 18th Biennial Conference, which is scheduled for February 10-14, 2025, and themed “The Rebirth of a Great Nation: Nigeria is Great.”
Oke emphasized the importance of mobilizing churches and citizens to participate in this national effort, underscoring that Nigeria’s challenges are a shared responsibility. He drew inspiration from the biblical story of Nineveh, where collective repentance led to divine intervention, expressing hope for similar relief for Nigeria.
“This time of prayer and fasting is essential to our biennial conference,” he explained. “We believe God will answer our prayers as we seek a better Nigeria together, both citizens and leaders. Unity and dedication will be key to overcoming the hardships we face.”
The PFN’s upcoming conference will host prominent Nigerian figures to address pressing national issues and discuss actionable solutions to the country’s difficulties. Bishop Oke highlighted that fostering resilience and cooperation among both leaders and citizens could set Nigeria on a path to recovery.
Deputy President Daniel echoed this message, stating that despite the country’s challenges, Nigeria is on the cusp of greatness. “Through prayer, we anticipate a renewed Nigeria. A nation that has endured suffering will emerge with economic strength, peace, and an end to violence,” he affirmed. “Our collective prayers will pave the way for Nigeria to fulfil its potential as a beacon of prosperity.”
With an unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s progress, the PFN’s call for spiritual renewal is seen as an opportunity for Nigerians to unify in hope, faith, and shared purpose.
