The people of Imode community in Oke Ero Local Government Area, Kwara State, have appealed to the Federal and Kwara State governments for immediate action on the deteriorating road linking Kwara and Ekiti States.

Speaking in a statement made available to ABNews by Hon. Toba Adebayo Omotosho (Kuye) and Professor Mike Abiodun, President of the Imode Development Association (IDA), community leaders described the road’s condition as “deplorable,” with numerous potholes, blocked drainage, and frequent flooding rendering it nearly impassable, especially during the rainy season.

The community leaders highlighted the hardships caused by these conditions, as vehicles regularly break down along the road, causing delays and endangering commuters. According to Hon. Omotosho, the blocked drainage has not only worsened the flooding but has also led to severe erosion, further damaging the road and intensifying travel difficulties for residents, traders, and farmers who rely on it.

The Imode community is urging both governments to declare a state of emergency on the road, mobilize resources for swift repairs, and provide alternative routes to minimize travel disruptions during the reconstruction process.

“We believe it’s the government’s duty to ensure safe and reliable infrastructure,” Professor Abiodun stated. “The people of Imode are enduring daily struggles on this road, and we hope our appeal is met with immediate action to alleviate the hardship.”

The community hopes that their plea will prompt lasting improvements to enhance safety, accessibility, and quality of life for residents and travelers who depend on this critical route.
