Gov Okpebholo Commences Massive Repairs on Benin-Ekpoma-Auchi Highway

Benin City, Edo State – Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has launched an extensive repair initiative targeting the deteriorated sections of the Benin-Ekpoma-Auchi highway, fulfilling his commitment to enhance the movement of people and goods across the state.

The critical highway, connecting Edo South through Edo Central to Edo North Senatorial Districts, has long suffered neglect, causing significant hardship for commuters. Recognizing the urgency, Governor Okpebholo has prioritized road rehabilitation since assuming office, with a focus on ensuring all major routes are motorable.

Within a month of his tenure, Governor Okpebholo has initiated repairs on several key sections of the highway, including Obadan Junction, Upper Mission Extension by Aduwawa Junction, Temboga Road, and Upper Ekenwan Road. This effort reflects his administration’s resolve to tackle infrastructural challenges, even in the face of limited resources, and underscores the state’s proactive stance on addressing federal road issues.

The ongoing projects cover critical sections such as the Ehor-Ekpoma axis, where construction teams are actively working to complete repairs ahead of the rainy season. Governor Okpebholo recently inspected a 32-kilometer access road leading to the Federal Science and Technology College in Uromi, Esan North East, signaling progress on several fronts.

Accompanied by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, John Obanor, Edo State APC Chairman Jarrett Tenebe, and other officials, Governor Okpebholo also assessed the Onewa Primary School Road by Utako Junction in Uromi and surrounding areas. Local residents expressed gratitude for the government’s intervention in restoring these long-neglected roads.

Fred Itua, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, confirmed the administration’s ongoing commitment to improving infrastructure across Edo State.
