asserting that the ultimate goal is not war but the security and stability of the region
In a recent press conference, Israel’s Foreign Minister, Gideon Sa’ar, highlighted the necessity of dismantling Hamas’ military and governmental capabilities to secure a lasting peace in the region. He emphasized that Hamas’ control over Gaza poses a significant threat to both Israeli security and Palestinian well-being.
According to Sky News, Sa’ar stated that while a peaceful resolution could theoretically be reached through future negotiations, the immediate focus is on achieving Israel’s war objectives. He stressed the importance of the current temporary ceasefire as the first phase in this process.
The minister reiterated Israel’s preparedness to take further military action if necessary, asserting that the ultimate goal is not war but the security and stability of the region. The second phase of discussions, aimed at a more permanent solution, is set to begin after the 16-day ceasefire period.
This conference comes as Israel and Hamas enter a temporary ceasefire agreement, aimed at halting the ongoing conflict and facilitating the release of hostages. Despite the truce, Sa’ar stressed that the removal of Hamas is crucial for achieving long-term peace in the Middle East.
