Benin City, January 21, 2025 – The staff of the State Secondary Education Board (SSEB) were elated today as they warmly welcomed the newly constituted Board members. This event follows the official swearing-in conducted yesterday by the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
The newly appointed Board members include Miss Omonzane Ebanehita Sonia as Chairman, Princess Charity Iziengbe Osifo representing Edo South Senatorial District, Comrade Alhaji Yusuf Bako M.M representing Edo North, and Hon. Vincelin Itama Udaze representing Edo Central.
During the introductory session, Board Secretary Mr. Osawe Osagie acknowledged the challenges faced by SSEB during the eight-year tenure of former Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, attributing some difficulties to a prolonged lack of Board leadership. He expressed gratitude to Governor Okpebholo for his decisive action in constituting the new Board.
Addressing the staff, Chairman Miss Omonzane Ebanehita Sonia emphasized the importance of teamwork and collaboration. “I am going to work with you, so let us work together to achieve our goals,” she stated, reinforcing her commitment to elevating the Board’s standards.
Princess Charity Iziengbe Osifo echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the need to address existing gaps and challenges. She assured the staff of her dedication to making SSEB a model for other Boards. Comrade Yusuf Bako, who has previous experience working with some SSEB staff, called on the team to identify and address the Board’s pressing needs, creating a roadmap for their collective efforts.
In response, SSEB staff expressed their appreciation for the new Board members and their forward-looking approach. They urged the members to leave a positive legacy, contrasting with past political mindsets that lacked long-term impact. Confidence was high that the new leadership would drive significant transformation within SSEB.
The event concluded with a group photograph, capturing a moment of unity and optimism for the future.
