The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially set the stage for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), unveiling key dates and significant updates aimed at improving the registration and examination process. According to JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, who made the announcement during a meeting with media executives in Lagos, registration will begin on January 31, 2025, and close on March 5, 2025.
Examination Dates and Key Details
The 2025 UTME will take place from March 8, 2025, while a mock examination for interested candidates has been scheduled for February 23, 2025. The mock test, a critical component of the process, is designed to familiarize candidates with the Computer-Based Testing (CBT) format, boosting their confidence and readiness for the main exam.
To participate, candidates must meet all mandatory requirements, including obtaining their National Identification Number (NIN). This NIN will be used to generate a profile code by sending it via SMS to 55019 or 66019, a necessary step for registration.
Updated Fees and Options
JAMB has outlined the fees for different categories of participants:
₦8,200 for candidates registering for the UTME and mock exam.
₦7,200 for those sitting only for the UTME.
₦5,700 for Direct Entry (DE) candidates.
Additionally, a trial-testing mock for candidates below the age of 16 has been introduced, offering younger students the opportunity to experience the CBT process without enrolling in the main UTME.
Expansion of Examination Centres
To accommodate the increasing number of candidates, JAMB has expanded the number of approved CBT centres to 870, a notable rise from the 747 centres used in 2024. This expansion aims to minimize technical glitches and create a seamless experience for candidates.
JAMB’s Commitment to Excellence
Prof. Oloyede emphasized JAMB’s dedication to delivering an improved and transparent process, addressing challenges faced in previous years. “The Board is committed to ensuring that the 2025 UTME sets a new benchmark in efficiency and fairness,” he stated.
Advice for Candidates
Candidates are urged to begin preparations early by creating their profiles, gathering necessary documents, and staying informed through JAMB’s official platforms. Late submissions will not be entertained, and all registrations must be completed within the designated window.
With these new initiatives, including the introduction of trial-testing mocks and the expansion of centres, JAMB continues to uphold its mission of transparency, fairness, and excellence, ensuring that the 2025 UTME process is a positive experience for all participants.
