Washington, D.C. – The Family Writers Press International has expressed support for former U.S. President Donald J. Trump’s decision to suspend foreign aid to Nigeria and other nations for 90 days, citing concerns over misuse and corruption.

The open letter obtained by ABNews was addressed to Trump at his Mar-a-Lago residence, the organization commended the move, describing it as “timely and necessary” to ensure American taxpayer funds are not being misappropriated in ways that fuel global instability.

The letter highlighted longstanding concerns over Nigeria’s use of U.S. aid, particularly funds channeled through programs such as USAID. It pointed to persistent issues of corruption, insurgency, and banditry, raising doubts about whether the financial assistance has genuinely benefited Nigerian citizens.

“The persistence of groups like Boko Haram and the alarming rise in banditry suggest that substantial resources are reaching the wrong hands,” the letter stated, calling for an independent and comprehensive audit of past aid allocations.

The Family Writers Press International urged the Trump administration to investigate whether elements within the Nigerian government or its security forces had facilitated the diversion of aid, either to insurgents or to suppress legitimate dissent. The letter cited Boko Haram’s continued violence, including mass abductions and assassinations, as evidence of the urgent need for scrutiny.

“If any portion of U.S. aid has inadvertently contributed to sustaining these threats, it is a matter of grave concern that demands international scrutiny,” the letter added.

The organization further suggested that if evidence of misappropriation emerges, the U.S. should impose targeted sanctions on corrupt officials and reconsider future aid programs. It emphasized that holding Nigeria accountable could push for genuine reforms that would benefit ordinary citizens suffering under insecurity and poor governance.

Trump’s decision to halt aid for 90 days aligns with his administration’s broader efforts to ensure U.S. foreign assistance serves national interests and promotes global stability. The suspension provides time for a review of how past funds have been utilized, potentially reshaping future U.S.-Nigeria relations in the process.
