says “I have unwavering faith in my wife’s loyalty”

Abuja, March 1, 2025 – High Chief Emmanuel O. Uduaghan has publicly addressed the ongoing dispute involving his wife, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, and the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, expressing concerns over the turn of events.

In a statement released today, Uduaghan revealed that he initially chose to remain silent but felt compelled to speak due to recent developments that, in his view, have stirred unnecessary sentiments rather than addressing the core allegations at hand.

“Without prejudice to the ongoing legal proceedings, I wish to emphasize that my wife was duly elected by her people due to the immense love, respect, and confidence they have in her. She remains committed to delivering quality representation to her district and the nation at large,” Uduaghan stated.

Describing his wife as a devoted partner with unwavering truthfulness, he disclosed that she had confided in him regarding her interactions with Senate President Akpabio, whom he once regarded as a family friend. He noted that he handled the matter with maturity and responsibility, in line with his role as a traditional leader who upholds family values and seeks harmony.

“I personally met with the Senate President and respectfully urged him to extend the courtesy and respect my wife deserves while also honoring the friendship between us. We reached an understanding and agreed to resolve the issue amicably,” he added.

However, Uduaghan expressed disappointment that despite this agreement, his wife continued to experience harassment from the Senate President.

Reaffirming his commitment to his marriage, he declared: “I have unwavering faith in my wife’s loyalty and am fully committed to our marriage, which is grounded in love, compassion, and mutual respect. I would never trade her for anything, as she is the greatest joy of my life.”

He called on the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Senate President to accord his wife the dignity and respect she deserves while allowing the relevant authorities and courts to handle the matter appropriately.
