LAGOS – Mojisola Meranda, the first female Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has resigned from her position.
Meranda tendered her resignation on Monday, March 3, during the ongoing plenary session, which was presided over by the former Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa.
Announcing her decision, Meranda stated that she made the selfless sacrifice to preserve the integrity of the legislative institution. However, she did not provide further details on the circumstances surrounding her resignation.
Her brief tenure as Speaker marked a historic moment for the Lagos Assembly, and her exit raises speculation about the future leadership dynamics within the House.
