Aerospace University in Kwara: Assessment Panel Visits Ilorin Aviation College

The Kwara State Government has received an assessment panel from the Federal Ministry of Aviation to evaluate the proposed conversion of the International Aviation College, Ilorin, into a full-fledged Aerospace University.

The Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. (Mrs.) Mary Arinde, disclosed this during a meeting with the delegation at the ministry’s conference hall in Ilorin. She emphasized that the initiative, driven by the visionary leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, underscores the state’s commitment to advancing specialized education in aviation and aerospace.

“This proposed conversion of the International Aviation College, Ilorin, into an Aerospace University is a bold step towards positioning Nigeria as a key player in the global aviation and aerospace industry,” Dr. Arinde stated. She reiterated the college’s strong foundation in training world-class pilots and aviation professionals and assured the team of the state’s full support for a seamless transition.

The leader of the assessment team, Mallam Lawal Ibrahim, commended the Kwara State Government for its dedication to upgrading the institution. He highlighted that the Aerospace University project is a product of the strategic synergy between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who remains focused on the state’s educational and infrastructural development.

He assured that the assessment process would be fair, considering the keen interest of the Kwara State Government in establishing the Aerospace University.

Earlier, the Rector of the Aviation College, Captain Okatahi Yakubu, expressed gratitude to the visiting panel and lauded Governor AbdulRazaq for his foresight in championing the transformation of the college into an Aerospace University.
