Ilorin, March 29, 2025 – The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Mai-Martaba Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, has officially declared Sunday, March 30, 2025, as the day for the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The announcement follows the sighting of the new crescent of Shawwal 1446, marking the completion of the sacred month of Ramadan.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Emir’s spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, who noted that Alhaji Sulu-Gambari had consulted with key traditional and religious leaders across the country. These include the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar CFR, the Shehu of Borno, His Royal Highness Alhaji Umar Ibn Garbai Ibn El-Kanemi, and other notable rulers before making the declaration.
Muslims across Ilorin and beyond are expected to observe the Eid prayers in celebration of the festival.
