25 Associate Professors
The Governing Council of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has approved the promotion of three academic staff members to the rank of professor and 25 others to the rank of associate professor.
The ratification was made at the Council’s 73rd meeting held on Thursday, April 10, 2025.
The newly promoted professors are drawn from the Faculties of Agriculture, Arts, and Education. They include Professor Shehu Abdulganiyu Salau, a specialist in Agricultural Production Economics; Professor Moshood Zakariyah, whose area of expertise is Sociolinguistics; and Professor Olayiwola Gafar Olorisade, a scholar in Educational Administration.
The 25 newly promoted associate professors span across various faculties including Agriculture, Arts, Education, Engineering and Technology, Information and Communication Technology, Law, Management and Social Sciences, as well as Pure and Applied Sciences.
From the Faculty of Agriculture, the Council approved the promotion of Dr. Latifat Kehinde Olatinwo and Dr. Felicia Motunrayo Olooto (Agric Extension and Rural Development), Dr. Olarinke Victoria Adeniyi (Aquaculture Management), Dr. James Adebayo Ojo (Entomology), and Dr. Akeem Olayemi Raji (Food Processing Technology).
In the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Yahya Toyin Muritala (Arabic Syntax and Modern Arabic Linguistics and Translation), Dr. Yunusa Muhammed Jamiu (Modern Arabic Literature), Dr. Oluwatomi Oluwatayo Adeoti (Pragmatics and Discourse Studies), Dr. Sherifat Hussain-Abubakar (Islamic Family Law and Gender Studies), and Dr. Khalid Ishola Bello (Islamic Economics) were all elevated to the rank of associate professor.
The Faculty of Engineering and Technology recorded the promotion of Engineer Dr. Olalekan Ogunbiyi (Power System and Automatic Control Engineering), Engineer Dr. Rasheed Amao Busari (Farm Power and Machinery), and Engineer Dr. Kamoru Olufemi Oladosu (Production and Renewable Energy).
In the Faculty of Education, Dr. Usman Tunde Saadu, a specialist in Educational Psychology, was promoted, while the Faculty of ICT saw the promotion of Dr. Ronke Seyi Babatunde, who specialises in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.
In the Faculty of Law, Dr. Olariyike Damola Akintoye (Property and Business Law) and Dr. Abdullahi Saliu Ishola (Islamic Law) were promoted to associate professors.
Others promoted from the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences include Dr. Abdullahi Alabi (Comparative Politics and Administration), Dr. Idris Danjuma Mohammed (Development Studies and Local Government Administration), and Dr. Ibrahim Ogirima Salawu (Public Policy and Governance).
In the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences, Dr. Emmanuel Anyachukwu Irondi (Food and Nutritional Biochemistry), Dr. Abdulazeez Kayode Jimoh and Dr. Kazeem Issa (Numerical Analysis), Dr. Wasiu Akanni Yahya (Theoretical and Computational Physics), and Dr. Abiodun Obembe (Entomology) were all confirmed as associate professors.
