Namibia’s first female president has announced new visa policies aimed at promoting African unity and asserting the nation’s sovereignty. Under the new directive, Americans will no longer be allowed to enter Namibia without a visa, and the visa fee for U.S. citizens has been doubled. Meanwhile, citizens of African countries can now travel to Namibia without a visa, as part of efforts to strengthen inter-African ties.

According to statements gathered by ABNews on African Hub, the Namibian leader emphasized that reciprocity must govern international travel relations. “If you can’t enter America without a visa, then the same should apply to Namibia,” she declared, announcing that henceforth, no American will be allowed entry into Namibia without a visa. Additionally, she revealed that visa fees for U.S. citizens have been doubled.

In contrast, the President extended a warm hand to fellow African nations, announcing that citizens from African countries would no longer be required to obtain a visa to enter Namibia. “No African should seek a visa to visit Namibia,” she affirmed, urging unity and free movement across the continent.

She further stated, “Visa was a tool invented by the whites to control Africans from pursuing their stolen natural resources abroad. Let’s now use visa requirements to block them from coming back to exploit more of our natural resources, especially the minerals.”

The President’s remarks and decisions have stirred wide debate across diplomatic circles, with Pan-African advocates praising the move as a strong stand for African sovereignty and unity.
