Omu-Aran, Kwara State, (ABNews)— The Executive Chairman of Irepodun Local Government, Alhaji Yakubu Abdulazeez Aremu, on Monday presented a proposed budget of ₦7.13 billion for the 2025 fiscal year, emphasizing his administration’s unwavering commitment to grassroots development and improved service delivery.
The Irepodun budget 2025 presentation took place at the Legislative Chambers of the council in a well-attended session that brought together traditional rulers, political figures, community leaders, and legislators.
According to the budget breakdown, ₦6.03 billion is allocated for recurrent expenditure, covering staff and teacher salaries, pensions, administrative overheads, and support to the Traditional Council. The remaining ₦1.1 billion is earmarked for capital projects aimed at accelerating development across the local government.
In his address, Chairman Abdulazeez said the budget was the product of wide-ranging consultations with stakeholders across all wards.
“This is not just a financial document—it is a reflection of our collective priorities. Every kobo is meant to count for the people of Irepodun,” he stated.
He assured that the capital projects would be equitably distributed and that no ward or community would be left behind once the council gives its approval.
The presentation was attended by prominent traditional rulers including the Olomu of Omu-Aran, as well as the Elesie of Esie, Alaran of Arandun, Alaran of Aran-Orin, Allah of Ilala, Oludopo of Okeyapo, Oloyopo of Ego-Oyo Po, Onipetu of Ipetu-Rore, Onijan of Ijan, and Eletu of Igbonla.
Notable political figures present included Alhaja Rasheedat Kazeem, APC Chairperson in Irepodun, former council boss Mrs. Oluwatoyin Opawoye, and political strategist Professor Bashiru Adigun.
Observers believe the Kwara local government spending plan is a strategic step toward addressing core issues in education, infrastructure, and social welfare as deliberations begin at the legislative level.
