Demand Swift Action from KWASU Students’ Union
Malete, Kwara State – April 22, 2025 (ABNews) A wave of frustration has swept through the student community of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, as several students continue to face persistent failures in the verification process required to access the much-anticipated National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). The students have now taken their outcry to the Students’ Union Government (SUG), demanding urgent intervention from the Union’s Welfare Director.
In a passionate and emotionally charged letter addressed to the Welfare Director, the affected students decried what they described as a “barrier to hope” and a major threat to their academic future. The recurring “STUDENTS’ VERIFICATION FAILED” error on the NELFUND portal has become a major source of anxiety for many who had pinned their hopes on the federal student loan scheme as a lifeline amid rising educational costs.
The letter, signed under the collective identity Voice of the Concerned and Affected Students, accused the university management of failing to upload updated student records to the NELFUND database. Even more painful, they noted, is the perceived silence and inaction of the Students’ Union, which they believe should be the first line of advocacy for their welfare.
“This is not merely a digital error,” the letter reads. “It is a barrier to hope, a wall against progress, and an insult to our aspirations.”
The affected students urged the Welfare Director to immediately liaise with the university authorities to ensure prompt data updates on the NELFUND portal
