Abuja, Nigeria — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to remember the nation’s troops and security operatives in their prayers, especially those courageously confronting terrorism, banditry, and other forms of insecurity across the country.
The President made this passionate appeal on Friday during the Eid-Mubarak session in Abuja, where he joined Muslim faithful in observing the Eid-el-Kabir prayers.
In his address after the prayers, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of unity, sacrifice, and continued spiritual reflection beyond the festive season. He called on Nigerians to uphold the values of peace, empathy, and resilience promoted during Ramadan and Eid celebrations.
“We face stiff challenges as a nation. We must take a stand against terror and injustice. These evils lie forever outside our faith,” Tinubu said.
He specifically urged Muslim faithful and all Nigerians to offer special prayers for members of the armed forces and other security agencies who are on the frontlines defending the nation from insurgents and criminal elements.
“Let us not forget our gallant soldiers and other security personnel who daily sacrifice themselves to confront violent evil. Pray for their protection, pray for their victory,” the President added.
President Tinubu also warned against individuals who seek to exploit religion to divide the country or tarnish the image of Islam. He described such acts as un-Islamic and counterproductive to national unity.
He concluded by calling on all citizens to continue showing love and kindness to the vulnerable and less privileged in society, in the spirit of Eid and the teachings of Prophet Ibrahim.
The Eid prayers were attended by top government officials, religious leaders, traditional rulers, and members of the diplomatic corps.
