Farmers to Benefit from Fertilizer, Tractor Support Under Governor AbdulRazaq’s Leadership

Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State has officially commenced the distribution of fertilizers to farmers as part of the state government’s agricultural intervention program aimed at boosting food production and supporting rural farmers.

The flag-off ceremony, which took place today at the council secretariat, marks the beginning of the implementation of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s statewide fertilizer and tractor distribution initiative. As part of the program, each of the 16 local governments in Kwara received a tractor to aid mechanized farming, while fertilizers were made available for local farmers at subsidized rates.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of Ekiti Local Government, Hon. Awelewa Olawale Gabriel, expressed profound appreciation to Governor AbdulRazaq for his unwavering commitment to agricultural development, particularly in supporting rural farmers.

“This is a significant step in the right direction. By providing these inputs and equipment, His Excellency has once again demonstrated his understanding of the challenges our farmers face. This will go a long way in enhancing productivity and ensuring food security across our local communities,” Hon. Awelewa stated.

Also present at the event was Mr. Israel Kudabo, Head of Department for Agricultural and Natural Resources in the council, who described the initiative as timely and impactful. He called on farmers to make good use of the fertilizers and the tractor for the betterment of the entire community.

Lawyer Olaokun Fatai, a representative of the Kwara State Agricultural Committee, reiterated the state government’s determination to reposition agriculture as a major driver of the local economy. He stressed that the intervention was not only about input distribution but about creating sustainable growth in the farming sector.

Farmers in attendance expressed joy and relief, describing the gesture as a major breakthrough in their preparation for the current planting season. They commended the state and local government authorities for their support and urged continued efforts to reach more farmers at the grassroots.

The flag-off in Ekiti LGA sets the pace for similar distributions across the state, reinforcing the AbdulRazaq administration’s commitment to agricultural transformation and rural development.
