Baruten, Kwara State — As Nigeria approaches the 2027 general elections, a passionate call for justice, unity, and integrity in Kwara North’s political future has emerged from a concerned citizen, Issa Abubakar (Baruten). In a statement made available to ABNews, Abubakar decried what he described as the betrayal of the region in 2023, warning that Kwara North must rise above manipulation and deceit if it is to secure a meaningful future.
According to Abubakar, the once-structured and vibrant political presence of Kwara North has deteriorated, and its elders have become silent in the face of political oppression. “Our pride was sold in 2023 for temporary gain. The architects of that failure injected hatred and division into our campaign, turning brothers against each other,” he said.
“Kwara North Must Not Be Fooled Again”
In the emotionally charged statement, Abubakar criticized political actors who, after allegedly sabotaging the 2023 governorship aspirations of Kwara North, are now repositioning themselves as champions of the region ahead of 2027.
“Are we fools? How can the same people who said Kwara North didn’t deserve the governorship in 2023 now come back seeking support in 2027? This is not justice. It is personal aggrandizement,” he said.
Abubakar, who distanced himself from the All Progressives Congress (APC), emphasized that he speaks not from partisanship but from a deep-rooted concern for the collective dignity and future of his people.
“Let it be clear: I do not see justice in the current APC 2027 Kwara North agenda. I am not a member of the APC. But I am a proud son of Kwara North, committed to its future and integrity.”
A Call to Action for the Oppressed
In a tone that blends disappointment with hope, Abubakar encouraged citizens to rise above politics built on lies and injustice, asserting that power must be earned through vision, truth, and respect for the people.
“Yes, God encourages forgiveness, but it must be based on genuine repentance. Politics may be a game to some, but to us—the people—it is about survival, dignity, and the future of our children.”
He stressed that Kwara North is home to many brilliant minds—”men and women of timber and caliber”—but that their potential has not been reflected in the region’s political reality.
“Let Everyone Be Free to Dream”
Asserting that civic rights must be upheld without fear or manipulation, Abubakar called on stakeholders to allow a free and fair process where all voices are heard.
“We will no longer tolerate injustice and nonsense. Let justice and truth guide us in 2027. Kwara North deserves better.”
