In a strong show of interfaith unity and appreciation, leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Omu-Aran chapter, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Irepodun Local Government Area, Hon. Abdulazeez Yakubu Aremu, on Tuesday.

The delegation, which included top CAN executives, representatives from the Women’s and Youth Wings, lauded the chairman for his decisive and peaceful intervention during a recent crisis in Omu-Aran, which they said could have escalated into widespread unrest.

Speaking during the visit, the CAN Chairman praised Hon. Abdulazeez for his maturity, wisdom, and prompt response that helped restore calm in the face of tension. He described the chairman’s efforts as both “divinely guided and people-focused,” noting that Omu-Aran residents were grateful for the peace that now reigns.

He also recalled the chairman’s active participation in the Easter Community Walk organized by CAN earlier this year. “It was a moment that reminded everyone of the importance of unity, humility, and inclusiveness in governance,” he said.

The representative of the CAN Women’s Wing expressed deep gratitude to the chairman and extended an invitation for a special visit in the near future, aimed at strengthening collaboration with the local government. Similarly, the Youth Wing representative appealed for more roles and opportunities for Christian youths within the council’s framework.

In his remarks, Hon. Abdulazeez Yakubu Aremu thanked the delegation for their warm words and goodwill. He recounted the events leading to the unrest and emphasized that his administration, through the grace of God and collective effort of stakeholders, was able to manage the situation and maintain order.

He stressed the importance of religious harmony in community development, stating, “Though I am a Muslim, I am a servant of all, and this administration will never sideline anyone on the basis of religion. Every faith group has a voice and a place in Irepodun.”

The chairman concluded by assuring the delegation that his leadership remains committed to inclusiveness, justice, and peace for all residents.

The visit ended on a spiritual note with joint prayers offered for peace, unity, and prosperity across Irepodun Local Government.
