Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has warmly congratulated three accomplished legal practitioners of Kwara origin who have been elevated to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), describing the recognition as a well-earned honour that reflects years of dedication, excellence, and outstanding service to the legal profession.
The newly conferred SANs are Mr. Tairu Adebayo Esq., Mallam Shuaib Agbarere Mustapha Esq., and Mr. Habeeb AbdulRahman Oredola Esq. Their names were among the 57 announced by the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC), the statutory body responsible for awarding the SAN title to legal professionals who have demonstrated exceptional competence and integrity, whether as advocates in the courtroom or as legal scholars contributing significantly to academic jurisprudence.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, Governor AbdulRazaq commended the honorees for representing Kwara with distinction and for setting a remarkable example for others in the legal community.
“This honour is not just a personal milestone for the recipients; it is a proud moment for our entire state,” the Governor said. “Their elevation is a befitting reward for their consistent commitment to justice, truth, professionalism, and ethical conduct in the practice of law. We celebrate them today, and we look forward to seeing even greater contributions from them in the years to come.”
Governor AbdulRazaq noted that the conferment of the SAN title on three Kwarans in a single year is not only historic but also reinforces Kwara’s growing reputation as a hub of legal intellect and advocacy in Nigeria.
“This achievement reminds us of our proud legal heritage — one that began with the trailblazing elevation of the late Abdulganiyu Folorunsho AbdulRazaq (SAN),” the statement added.
The late Abdulganiyu AbdulRazaq, father of the current governor, holds the distinction of being the first lawyer from Northern Nigeria and the first Kwara indigene to be conferred with the SAN title in 1985. His legal and political legacy remains an inspiration to generations of Kwarans. In addition to his legal achievements, he served as the first Commissioner for Finance in Kwara State after its creation in 1967. Learn more about his legacy here.
The Governor further described the SAN title as one of the highest honours any legal practitioner in Nigeria can aspire to, as it is a badge of distinction earned through excellence, discipline, and outstanding performance over time.
He encouraged younger lawyers in the state to take a cue from the achievements of the newly elevated SANs, urging them to remain focused, ethical, and committed to the ideals of justice.
“May this milestone not only mark the beginning of greater achievements for the honourees but also inspire the next generation to strive for excellence in their chosen fields,” he added.
The elevation of these legal minds, observers say, is a reflection of the depth of legal talent in Kwara and the state’s continuous contribution to the legal and intellectual fabric of Nigeria. As the legal world celebrates this announcement, Kwarans at home and in the diaspora are equally basking in the pride that comes from seeing their own shine at the national level.
