In a renewed effort to strengthen grassroots security and enhance mobility for community safety officers, the Executive Chairman of Irepodun Local Government Area, Hon. Abdulazeez Yakubu, has donated three more motorcycles to local security outfits across three wards in the council area.

The latest donation comes on the heels of a previous presentation of a motorcycle to the security outfit in the Ipetu/Rore/Aran-Orin Ward. This brings the total number of benefiting wards to four, with the promise of more to come.

At brief handover ceremonies held at each ward center, Hon. Yakubu delivered the motorcycles through the councilors representing the beneficiary wards. He emphasized the vital role of local security personnel in maintaining peace, especially in rural communities.

“These motorcycles are not just a means of transport—they represent our commitment to community safety,” he stated. “Security remains a top priority for this administration, and we will continue to equip our local security units with the tools they need to function efficiently.”

The chairman noted that reliable mobility is crucial for swift response to distress calls and routine surveillance across the council area. He assured residents that similar support will reach other wards in the near future as part of a phased empowerment strategy.

Leaders of the local vigilante groups and traditional chiefs in the affected wards expressed gratitude to the council boss, describing the initiative as timely and impactful. They lauded Hon. Yakubu’s consistent attention to the needs of grassroots security, praising his proactive governance style.

The motorcycle empowerment initiative aligns with the council’s broader development agenda focused on peace, safety, and sustainable community growth.
