The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially announced the commencement of the 2025 Nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, calling on all eligible Nigerians to seize the opportunity to get registered ahead of the upcoming elections. This announcement was made available via INEC’s official Twitter handle, reinforcing the commission’s commitment to inclusive and credible electoral processes.
According to the statement released, online pre-registration will kick off on August 18, 2025, through the official registration portal: https://cvr.inecnigeria.org. This step is designed to ease the registration process by allowing citizens to input their personal data and book appointments online before heading to designated centres for biometric capture.
Furthermore, in-person registration will commence on August 25, 2025, at all INEC Local Government Area (LGA) offices nationwide and other designated registration centres. The registration will run Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
INEC emphasized the importance of voter registration as a fundamental step in strengthening democracy, stating:
“Your vote starts with registration. Don’t miss your opportunity to register.”
The commission also provided contact details for enquiries and support, including:

The initiative is part of INEC’s broader efforts to ensure greater participation in the electoral process by expanding access to voter registration. The commission has also pledged to ensure transparency, accessibility, and fairness throughout the registration period.
In line with INEC’s vision of consolidating democracy, citizens are urged to mobilize, especially first-time voters, and take advantage of both the online and offline channels available for this exercise.
INEC concluded its announcement with a renewed message:
“INEC, making your votes count… Consolidating our democracy.”
