As Governor Orders Tightened Patrols

Babanla, a quiet community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, became the scene of a coordinated security push on Friday after armed criminals attempted to disrupt peace in the area.

The attackers, who reportedly stormed the community targeting the local police station, several grocery shops, and a hotel, were met with stiff resistance from a combined force of Nigerian Army personnel, police officers, and brave residents who refused to be intimidated. Their quick response forced the criminals to retreat before causing major damage.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who has been in constant communication with security commanders and local vigilantes, ordered a full-scale security lockdown in the axis to flush out the perpetrators and restore public confidence.

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor praised the “gallant display of courage and swift action” by security operatives and community members. He assured residents that the state government, in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser, is taking all necessary measures to “cleanse the area of criminal threats.”

The governor also appealed for calm, urging residents to fully cooperate with security forces as patrols and searches continue in and around Babanla.

This decisive response underscores the growing synergy between security agencies and local communities in safeguarding rural settlements across Kwara State.
