The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially fixed Tuesday, September 2, 2025, for the inauguration of its National Convention Organizing Committee (NCOC) as preparations intensify ahead of the party’s 2025 Elective National Convention.
The ceremony, scheduled for 12 noon at the NEC Hall of the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, is expected to draw top party leaders, governors, and stakeholders from across the country.
In a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the party explained that the move followed the approval of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and is part of efforts to ensure a smooth and successful convention.
The 110-member committee will be chaired by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, a two-term governor widely regarded for his organizational ability and strong grassroots support. He will be assisted by Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State as Vice Chairman, while Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State will serve as Secretary.
The PDP leadership emphasized that the inauguration marks a crucial step in its preparations for the convention, which is set to hold in Ibadan, Oyo State, from Saturday, November 15 to Sunday, November 16, 2025.
Party insiders told reporters that the Ibadan convention will not only elect new national officers but also serve as a rallying point for unity within the PDP, especially as the party prepares for upcoming electoral contests.
“The National Working Committee charges all leaders, critical stakeholders, and teeming members of the PDP to remain united, focused, and committed to the success of this national project,” Ologunagba said.
Analysts note that the convention will test the party’s ability to reconcile its internal differences, strengthen its structures, and present a clear alternative vision to Nigerians ahead of future elections. Already, expectations are high among party faithful who see the November gathering as a chance to reposition the PDP as a strong opposition force.
With three sitting governors leading the 2025 National Convention Committee, observers believe the party is sending a strong message of seriousness and commitment to internal democracy.
