Rore town in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State was thrown into mourning following a fresh attack that claimed the lives of three people, including a security man.

A video shared on the Omu-Aran Youth Forum Facebook page captured the tense atmosphere in the community, with residents wailing and lamenting the continuous wave of insecurity in the Igbomina land. Many attributed the incident to suspected herdsmen, locally referred to as “Fulanis,” whom they accused of carrying out kidnappings and banditry in the area.

When contacted by ABNews, a resident and native of Rore confirmed the incident but noted that it was still unclear whether the attack was perpetrated by armed robbers, kidnappers, or herdsmen. “It is a very sad story. The security man who was killed worked for a businessman, Mr. Dare, who is currently in Jerusalem,” he revealed.

The spate of killings in Kwara State, particularly in Igbomina communities, has continued to raise concerns. Only recently, an entire town was reportedly deserted due to the incessant attacks and fear of bandit activities.

Witnesses and community members have continued to call on Yoruba monarchs and other traditional leaders to intervene and protect Igbomina land from what they described as an existential threat.

As of the time of filing this report, the Kwara State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
