Abuja, September 2, 2025 – The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has taken a swipe at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, accusing it of “desperate propaganda” and “data manipulation” in its newly released infrastructure performance report.
The party, through its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, alleged that the glossy document titled “Infrastructure Equity for Every Region: Progress for Every Nigerian – The Renewed Hope Agenda in Action” was not an act of transparency but a “damage control strategy” meant to downplay rising criticism of nepotism and regional favoritism.
According to the ADC, the report not only failed to convince Nigerians but also revealed glaring inconsistencies and misrepresentations. Abdullahi noted that several projects were wrongly allocated to the North-West region, raising questions about the credibility of the government’s data.
“For example,” he said, “the Damaturu–Maiduguri road, clearly situated in Yobe and Borno States in the North-East, was curiously classified as a North-West project. Similar errors were repeated with roads in Borno, Kogi, and Benue, which were either duplicated or misrepresented in the regional breakdown.”
The opposition party argued that such discrepancies show the administration’s lack of sincerity, stressing that no government in Nigeria’s history has felt so compelled to “prove” that it is fair to all regions.
“This is the most divisive government we have ever had,” Abdullahi declared. “Instead of demonstrating accountability, they ended up indicting themselves with manipulated evidence.”
The ADC also pointed out that many of the projects celebrated in the report were not fresh achievements but initiatives carried over from the Muhammadu Buhari administration.
“This government has become notorious for padding budgets, and now we are witnessing a new trend; padding infographics,” Abdullahi added.
The statement comes amid growing public debate over President Tinubu’s style of governance, with critics accusing his administration of concentrating power and appointments within a narrow circle while leaving many Nigerians feeling excluded.
Analysts believe this ADC broadside will intensify the political heat around Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” especially as opposition parties continue to challenge his administration’s record on fairness, inclusivity, and transparency.
