The Executive Chairman of Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulazeez Yakubu Tinuola, has been decorated with the Outstanding Executive Chairman of the Year award by the Igbomina Students’ Association, Ekiti State University/Kwara State College of Education, Oro Chapter.
The event, held in Ekiti, brought together student leaders, community stakeholders, and dignitaries who gathered to celebrate individuals making tangible impacts in governance and grassroots development. The award, according to the organisers, was presented in recognition of Alhaji Tinuola’s “exemplary leadership style, unwavering dedication to good governance, and consistent support for education and youth empowerment.”
Representing the chairman at the ceremony, Hon. (Mrs) Temitope Abifarin-Sanusi, expressed appreciation on his behalf, noting that the recognition was not only for the chairman but for the entire Irepodun Local Government family.
“This award is not just an honour to him alone but also to the people of Irepodun. It will serve as a motivation for him to do even more in service to the people. His administration has prioritized education, community development, and youth empowerment, and this recognition by the Igbomina Students’ Association is proof that these efforts are not going unnoticed,” she said.
Hon. Abifarin-Sanusi added that Alhaji Tinuola remains committed to initiatives that directly benefit the people, including infrastructure development, improved social services, and youth-focused programmes that provide opportunities for self-reliance.
The Igbomina Students’ Association described the award as a way of celebrating leaders who inspire and support the academic and personal growth of young people. According to the association, Alhaji Tinuola was selected for the honour due to his consistent interventions in education and his open-door policy, which has made the local government more responsive to the needs of its citizens.
In her remarks, Hon. Abifarin-Sanusi assured that the chairman would continue to live up to the trust reposed in him, pledging that his administration would intensify efforts to deliver good governance, promote inclusiveness, and ensure impactful leadership across all communities in Irepodun.
The event ended with commendations from students and community leaders who lauded the recognition as timely and deserving, while urging other political leaders to emulate the chairman’s people-centred style of governance.
