The Founder and Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners’ Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, has declared that the only birthday gift he desires is the winning of souls into the kingdom of God.
The renowned preacher, who clocked 71, made the remark during a special service held in his honour, where he addressed members of the church and well-wishers.
Speaking passionately, Oyedepo said material gifts such as cars or cakes mean nothing to him compared to the eternal value of winning souls for Christ.
“Don’t bring me a car because I don’t need it. Don’t bring me cake because I don’t eat cake. What I want for my birthday gift is a soul. Bring a soul to the kingdom of God. That is the gift that matters most to me,” he told the congregation.
The bishop urged his followers to take evangelism seriously, describing soul-winning as the greatest heritage he wishes to leave behind.
“Please go after souls, that is the heritage I am leaving for you. This is the only gift you can give to me that would count before God,” he added.
Bishop Oyedepo, widely regarded as one of Africa’s most influential Christian leaders, has over the decades emphasized evangelism, faith, and prosperity as central pillars of his ministry.
As he marked his 71st birthday, his message resonated with humility and a renewed call to members of his church and Christians at large to focus on what he described as the true essence of Christian living — bringing souls into God’s kingdom.
