Community leaders across Kwara South have intensified calls for spiritual intervention amid escalating insecurity in the region, stressing that while physical and governmental measures are ongoing, divine support remains essential.
Speaking on behalf of concerned stakeholders, Rev. Dr. S. O. Olanrewaju said recent developments — including kidnappings, killings, land invasions and rising fear among residents — have compelled the people of Igbomina, Ekiti, and Ibolo to seek God’s intervention.
Although local hunters and vigilante groups have been empowered, and appeals have been made to both state and federal authorities, Rev. Olanrewaju insists that prayer must be embraced as a central strategy in restoring peace.
Prayer Conference Announced
A non-denominational prayer program has been scheduled as follows:
- Date: Saturday, October 18, 2025
- Time: 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
- Venue: Christian Nursery & Primary School Hall, N.T.A Transmitting Station Road, Ganmo (beside ECWA Secondary School)
The program is open to:
- Christians of all denominations
- Muslims and other non-Christians who desire peace in the region
- Traditional rulers, community leaders, and youth representatives
Clergy members such as Pastors, Reverends, Bishops, Deacons, as well as security-conscious citizens, are strongly urged to attend.

Support from “Kwara South United” Forum
The initiative is also enjoying overwhelming support from administrators and members of the popular WhatsApp platform “Kwara South United” — a coalition of influential stakeholders across the senatorial zone. Despite ongoing logistics support for vigilante operations and continuous advocacy to government, members of the platform collectively agree that “no effort is complete without involving God.”
Speaking on behalf of the group, some admins expressed that:
“Security operations are necessary, but only God can watch over a city completely. This prayer rally is not just another event — it is a collective cry for divine intervention.”
They further encouraged members across Omu-Aran, Oro, Ajase, Idofian, Arandun, Oke-Onigbin, Erin-Ile, Offa, and surrounding communities to mobilize massively for the program.
Call for Unity and Action
Rev. Olanrewaju emphasized that the call is not politically motivated, nor is it restricted to any denomination or religious bloc. He also encouraged Muslim communities and traditional institutions to organize their own parallel prayer sessions if desired.
“Enough of kidnappings. Enough of attacks. Enough of fear. We must rise in one voice and call upon the God of Heaven to defend Kwara South,” he declared.
