Otunba Biodun Ajiboye, Executive Secretary of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), has called on the people of Kwara South to put aside internal disagreements and forge a united front for political strength and development.

In a statement addressed to the Igbomina, Ifelodun, Oke Ero, Ekiti, and other local communities within the senatorial district, Ajiboye emphasized that this is not the time for division, stressing that only unity can help Kwara South overcome years of marginalization.

“We have been marginalized for so long because we have never come together as a united force. The time has come for us to appreciate that only unity can take us to the destination we desire,” he said.

Ajiboye also reacted to the recent controversy surrounding comments credited to Senator Lola Ashiru. He urged residents to accept the senator’s rebuttal and move beyond the misunderstanding in the interest of collective progress.

Backing his position with electoral statistics, Ajiboye noted that in the last general elections, Irepodun and Ifelodun Local Governments alone delivered a combined total of 52,660 votes — surpassing the 40,064 votes from Offa and Oyun.

He maintained that Senator Ashiru, who attended Esie Iludun Grammar School in Igbomina land, remains a friend of the community and should not be judged harshly.

“Let us overlook minor errors made within the political landscape. If we begin to consider everything as an affront, we will be too divided to pursue our dreams,” he cautioned.

Ajiboye insisted that the real challenge facing Kwara South is underdevelopment caused by poor representation at both state and federal levels, urging citizens to focus on that rather than internal conflicts.

He concluded with an appeal:

“I implore all to please allow love and unity to reign.”
