Citizens lament Government’s Silence
By Ajewole Joshua
Anxiety is growing in Yagba communities following a fresh incident involving an alleged influx of unidentified individuals believed to be Fulani migrants — barely days after widespread reports of attacks and growing frustration among residents over insecurity.
Despite multiple distress reports, there has been no official response from the local government chairman or the Kogi State Government, deepening fears and distrust among citizens.
A resident, who shared video evidence, narrated his family’s ordeal:
“Two trucks offloaded Fulanis right in front of my father’s house yesterday and left them there. Nobody questioned them. They boldly crossed over to our compound, spread their mats under the mango tree my dad planted, and began to pray — without permission. They even sat around our well.”
He added that his mother and younger brother were terrified throughout the night but kept silent out of fear of being targeted or misunderstood.
“My mom said everyone in the area just kept quiet and looked away as though nothing happened. People were snitching on each other. My brother managed to record a video as they were leaving. They defecated everywhere and messed up the surroundings,” she lamented.
This latest development comes shortly after another controversial incident in which an individual reportedly apprehended for suspicious activity was allegedly released on the orders of a local government aide. The sudden release sparked public outrage and triggered a peaceful protest by the youths, who demanded transparency and accountability.

However, neither the local government chairman nor state authorities have issued any statement regarding the incident — a silence that residents describe as unacceptable and worrisome.
Community observers warn that the situation is gradually eroding public confidence in leadership and security systems.
Citizens are now appealing to security agencies, the state governor, and relevant federal authorities to urgently intervene before the situation escalates beyond control.
As of the time of this report, official reactions remain absent.
