Lagos State has Honoured Yaba Local Council Development Area , LCDA, again under the leadership of Hon. (Dr.) Bayo Adefuye, as the Lagos State best Council in Agriculture in for the Year 2025. This was declared by the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture & Food Systems, during the World Food Day Celebration in Lagos recently.
This recognition stands as a testament to the continued commitment of Hon. (Dr.) Bayo Adefuye, Executive Chairman of Yaba LCDA, towards promoting food sustainability, agricultural innovation, and empowerment of residents through diverse agricultural initiatives at the grassroots level.
The award was officially presented to the Head of Department (HOD), Agriculture, and other representatives of Yaba LCDA, who attended the World Food Day event on behalf of the Council at the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture & Food Systems.
At the event, the Yaba LCDA delegation also exhibited a wide variety of agricultural produce and food items cultivated and processed through the Council’s local initiatives, showcasing the Council’s practical contributions to Lagos State’s agricultural and food security goals.

Speaking on the honour, Hon. (Dr.) Bayo Adefuye expressed appreciation to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, and the Ministry of Agriculture & Food Systems for recognizing the hard work and consistency of Yaba LCDA in the area of agricultural development.
He commended the efforts of the Council’s Agriculture Department for their dedication and proactive engagement with farmers, women, and youths through various training and empowerment programmes aimed at promoting self-reliance and food sufficiency.
“This award reflects the dedication and teamwork of our Agriculture Department and the entire Yaba LCDA family. It encourages us to keep supporting sustainable agriculture and food production at the grassroots level. I dedicate this honour to the people of Yaba LCDA whose cooperation and resilience make our success possible,” Hon. Dr. Bayo Adefuye stated.
The Executive Chairman further assured that his administration would continue to invest in agricultural programmes that promote urban farming, youth engagement, and innovation in food systems, aligning with the vision of the Lagos State Government to ensure food security and environmental sustainability.
“This latest award reinforces Yaba LCDA’s position as a pacesetter among local councils in Lagos State, not only in governance but also in sustainable agricultural development and community impact.
