The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved ₦43 billion for the reconstruction of the Ilorin–Omu Aran–Egbe Road in Kwara State; marking yet another milestone achievement facilitated by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
The approval, announced on Wednesday, comes just weeks after the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, inspected the newly-approved 42.6km Eiyenkorin–Afon–Ojoku–Offa Road, also secured by the governor under the Federal Government’s Tax Credit Scheme.
According to Umahi, the Ilorin–Omu Aran–Egbe project will begin with a 31-kilometre stretch in its first phase. He explained that the road will be constructed using full concrete pavement to ensure durability and sustainability over time.
“This is one of the major projects approved for execution, and it will stand the test of time because of its solid design,” the minister said while briefing State House correspondents after the FEC meeting.
Governor AbdulRazaq, who has made infrastructure a cornerstone of his administration, recently flagged off the 15.1km Ojoku–Ilemona Road project — another testament to his commitment to expanding road networks and promoting economic growth across Kwara.
The Ilorin–Omu Aran–Egbe Road is a vital route linking several communities in Kwara South and extending into Okunland in neighbouring Kogi State. It serves as a major economic and transport corridor for traders, commuters, and rural dwellers.
