Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has again raised alarm over the growing security threats in parts of Ekiti Local Government Area, particularly the Eruku axis, following another violent attack on Tuesday that left residents distressed and fleeing into nearby bushes for safety.

In a detailed statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, the Governor directed security commanders to immediately dispatch an expanded team of operatives to the affected communities. The reinforcement, he said, must take effect without delay to prevent further incursions and restore public confidence.

“The Governor has sought immediate deployment of more security operatives to support the existing security architecture in the area,” Ajakaye stated, noting that the request followed reports from multiple security sources confirming the latest attack.

Governor AbdulRazaq was said to have condemned the “unconscionable and cowardly” assault, describing it as an attack on the peace-loving people of Eruku and a direct hit on the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) community, which was reportedly impacted during the incident. He expressed heartfelt sympathy to the families affected and acknowledged the emotional and psychological burden the recurring attacks have placed on the residents.

According to the statement, the state government has maintained close communication with security agencies, providing logistics and intelligence support to ensure that coordinated and sustainable action is taken across all flashpoints. The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, stressing that the protection of citizens remains the top priority.

In a related development, Governor AbdulRazaq applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the deployment of 900 additional troops to Kwara State. He noted that the federal intervention had already begun to yield positive results, with noticeable calm in several communities previously troubled by criminal activities.

“We sincerely thank the President for this strategic deployment. We have indeed seen appreciable calm in many areas previously affected. The additional troops will further strengthen security presence, deter criminal elements, and enhance the safety and confidence of our people,” Ajakaye added.

The Governor assured residents that government and security operatives are working round the clock to ensure the perpetrators of the attack are tracked and apprehended, while also intensifying efforts to prevent future occurrences.
