The Kwara State Government has confirmed the release of 38 victims abducted during the attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku, in Ekiti Local Government Area. The abductees regained their freedom on Saturday following intensified rescue operations coordinated across multiple security agencies.

In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, the government described the development as “a testament to strengthened inter-agency collaboration and swift national intervention.”

While acknowledging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s decisive involvement, the statement placed emphasis on the broader nationwide security synergy that accelerated the rescue efforts. According to the CPS, the President’s directive for increased security deployment, coupled with the work of various national intelligence and military units, contributed significantly to the successful operation.

The state government noted that President Tinubu halted his planned attendance at the G20 Meeting in South Africa to address security breaches in Kwara and Kebbi States—an action it said underscored the federal government’s vigilance in handling emerging threats.

The coordinated rescue operation involved the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Intelligence Agency (NIA), and the Nigeria Police Force, which recently deployed four tactical teams to Kwara as part of the federal response strategy.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq expressed gratitude to all security formations, community stakeholders, religious bodies, and concerned citizens who rallied behind the government throughout the crisis. He described the release of the abductees as a major relief for the state and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining security partnerships that protect lives and property.

The governor further assured residents that security surveillance around vulnerable communities would continue to be strengthened to prevent future incidents.
