Says these insecurity challenges are not accidental

A Lagos-based business tycoon, business coach, and advocate of good governance, Mr. Adekunle Adeniyi, widely known as Samad, has issued a passionate national appeal urging Nigerians to unite against what he calls “deliberate, coordinated forces working to destabilise the country.”

Samad, who has trained and empowered numerous young entrepreneurs and recently delivered a technical lecture on preventing building collapse in Nigeria at an event organised by Tiger TMT, spoke extensively on Nigeria’s fragile socio-political environment and the urgent need for collective action.

In his statement, he stressed that Nigeria is facing not just policy challenges but intentional disruptions engineered by both internal and external actors who profit from instability.

“Nigeria Is at a Defining Moment” — Samad

According to the Lagos businessman, Nigeria’s size and diversity—its multiple ethnic groups, languages, and religions—should ordinarily be its greatest national advantage. However, he lamented that these same differences have become tools exploited by groups hoping to divide the country.

“Nigeria stands at a defining moment in its history,” he said.
“Our diversity should be our strength, but individuals and groups who benefit from chaos have turned it into a weapon.”

Samad explained that foreign interests with geopolitical and economic motives continue to interfere in Nigeria’s affairs, subtly and sometimes openly, because a divided Nigeria is easier to exploit.

Internal Actors Also Fueling Tension

He did not spare internal contributors to the nation’s instability. He accused some political actors, economic profiteers, and opportunists of deliberately amplifying ethnic tension and misinformation for personal gain.

“When policies threaten their illegitimate benefits,” he said, “they fight back with propaganda, disruption, and calculated sabotage.”

He noted that some individuals and groups intentionally mislead citizens to create disaffection, especially during sensitive political or economic reforms.

Insecurity: A Weapon Used Against Nigeria

Addressing the worsening insecurity across the country, Samad said the situation goes far beyond random attacks. He insisted that terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and illegal arms trafficking are being deployed as strategic tools to weaken Nigeria’s morale and undermine state authority.

He explained that insecurity benefits two major groups:

  • External forces seeking to weaken Nigeria’s regional dominance and exploit its natural resources.
  • Internal conspirators who use insecurity to discredit government policies or gain political leverage.

“These insecurity challenges are not accidental,” he warned.
“They are part of a larger plan to shake public confidence in our institutions.”

Democratic Institutions Under Pressure

Samad also expressed deep concern about the sustained attacks on Nigeria’s democratic structures. He cited misinformation, economic sabotage, and persistent hostility as tactics aimed at creating the impression that government is overwhelmed.

He described these attacks as efforts to:

  • Weaken national leadership
  • Create distrust between citizens and government
  • Portray the state as incapable
  • Fuel calls for undemocratic governance
  • Open the door for political manipulation

“These efforts are designed to undermine democracy and position selfish actors for future political gain,” he said.

Commends Government Efforts but Warns of Resistance

While noting that the present administration is working to stabilise the nation, Samad said the reforms being implemented are being resisted by those who benefited from the old system.

He gave examples of how policies aimed at economic stability, security restructuring, and institutional reforms are often mocked, distorted, or misrepresented.

“The louder the government works to fix loopholes,” he said,
“the more determined these elements become to frustrate those efforts.”

“This Battle Cannot Be Won by Government Alone”

The Lagos businessman insisted that the responsibility to safeguard Nigeria belongs to every citizen. He called on Nigerians to resist ethnic manipulation and misinformation, urging unity as the only sustainable way out of the current crisis.

He outlined actions he believes citizens must take:

  • Rise above ethnic and religious division
  • Reject individuals who profit from chaos
  • Support long-term national policies
  • Resist misinformation and propaganda
  • Work with authorities to strengthen community security
  • Prioritise national interest over personal sentiment

“Our unity should be our strategy, not just a beautiful slogan,” he added.

A Vision of Hope for Nigeria

Samad ended his remarks on an inspirational note, expressing unwavering confidence that Nigeria will overcome if its people stand together.

“Nigeria must succeed. Nigeria will succeed — but only if we stand together,” he said.
“Let us choose progress over division, truth over propaganda, and nation-building over personal interest.”

He prayed for the nation’s prosperity and reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for peace, unity, and responsible governance.

ABNews will continue to track developments and conversations around Nigeria’s national discourse, especially as leaders and stakeholders like Samad raise their voices on the need for unity and resilience.
