As preparations intensify for the Annual General Retreat tagged Ancient Well, Pastor Segun Micheal has issued a thought-provoking message, urging Christians to awaken to their authority and reposition themselves in a society he believes has placed them on the margins.

Addressing members in a powerful pre-retreat charge, Pastor Micheal lamented what he described as a worrying contradiction in today’s world: a nation in which Christians are many, yet power and economic control appear to be in the hands of “strangers” and non-believers.

“The church is the most valuable asset in the land, yet the economy is controlled by outsiders,” he stated, adding that many believers now feel “in a cage” while others determine the direction of society. According to him, this reality is not God’s design for His people.

To underline his message, Pastor Micheal drew a striking parallel to the biblical story of Daniel in Babylon. In that foreign land dominated by sorcery, astrology, and unfamiliar spiritual systems, Daniel; a servant of God; rose to a position of unmatched influence.

“Daniel became the head of the astrologers, the magicians, and the wise men,” he reminded his listeners. “Not even an enchantment could work against him, because his God had shifted the boundary.”

He explained that Daniel’s rise symbolized a divine change of territory and influence — a shift that placed a man of faith at the center of a system that did not originally belong to him. This, he said, is proof that God remains sovereign even in the darkest or most threatening environments.

“God created even the darkness,” Pastor Micheal added, stressing that no environment is beyond divine authority or transformation.

The message, he said, is not merely historical or symbolic but prophetic for today’s Church. He challenged believers to recognize their role in shaping the future of the nation and refusing to remain in positions of silence or subjugation.

“Are you seeing the Church?” he asked, leaving the question hanging as a call to awareness, action, and renewed faith.

The Ancient Well retreat is expected to focus on spiritual renewal, identity, and empowerment, aimed at preparing Christians to reclaim influence in all areas of life; governance, economy, leadership, and community development.

With strong biblical imagery and a call for spiritual courage, Pastor Micheal’s message has set the tone for a retreat that promises to be both reflective and revolutionary.
