As Ikeja Electric Assure Residents of Imminent Restoration

Residents and businesses in Ijegun and adjoining communities have received encouraging updates regarding the ongoing power infrastructure upgrade and feeder repairs affecting electricity supply in the area.

According to information released to community leaders and customers, an upgrade of the Ijegun Injection Substation commenced earlier in December and was scheduled to run for 14 days. The exercise affected customers on Ikotun, Obalagbe, Okerube, Ijegun, Pipeline and Isheri-Osun feeders, with intermittent power interruptions experienced during the period. The upgrade, electricity officials explained, is aimed at improving service delivery and ensuring a more reliable and sustainable power supply across the communities.

In a related development, the IJCDA Electricity Committee clarified earlier concerns over the repair works on the Isheri-Osun Feeder. While the repairs were initially expected to begin earlier, the committee confirmed that the work was rescheduled, with assurances from engineers that all critical interventions would be concluded within the second week of December to allow residents enjoy stable electricity supply during the Christmas season.

Providing the latest update, the committee announced that all major engineering works have now been completed, while remaining finishing tasks to strengthen and sustain the system are currently being addressed. Engineers from both Okota and the Undertaking reportedly worked round the clock to ensure timely completion.

The committee further disclosed that the 14-day outage period officially ends with the completion of works on December 14, followed by testing and commissioning on Monday, December 15, 2025. Feeder redistribution has also been completed and is expected to be energised the same day to ease pressure on the Ijegun Feeder.

However, the Electricity Committee cautioned that Distribution Transformers (DTs) belonging to CDAs that are yet to meet their financial obligations for the feeder rearrangement project may not be energised until such commitments are fulfilled. Details of DTs connected to the newly restructured feeders, the committee said, will be communicated after full completion of the project.

Residents have been urged to remain patient as final testing is concluded, with assurances that power restoration across affected feeders is imminent.

“E lo fọkan balẹ, ina máa tán,” the committee reassured, promising to keep the public informed of any further developments.
