Urges the public to report any sale of the affected Indomie noodles to NAFDAC

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public alert warning consumers about the recall of Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles due to the presence of undeclared allergens.

In a notice posted on its official X handle and obtained by ABNews, NAFDAC said the recall followed an alert by French food safety authorities, Rappel Conso, which discovered that the affected product contains milk and eggs that were not declared on the label. According to the agency, this poses a serious health risk to people with allergies or intolerances to these substances.

NAFDAC noted that the likelihood of the recalled product entering Nigeria is considered low because of the Federal Government’s ban on the importation of noodles. However, the agency stressed that vigilance remains necessary, as illegal entry, online purchases, or products brought in through international travel cannot be completely ruled out.

The agency said it has already stepped up surveillance measures to prevent any possible circulation of the affected Indomie noodles within the country.

NAFDAC advised distributors, retailers, and consumers to be cautious and ensure that the recalled foreign product is not sold, distributed, or consumed in Nigeria. Consumers who may come across the product are urged not to eat it but to dispose of it properly.

Members of the public are also encouraged to report any sighting or sale of the implicated Indomie noodles to the nearest NAFDAC office or through the agency’s toll-free line: 0800-162-3322.
