The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the official brochure and syllabus for candidates preparing for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), urging prospective applicants to begin early preparation ahead of the examination.

In a public notice issued by the examination body, JAMB advised candidates to access the documents through the QR code provided on its official platforms or by visiting its Integrated Brochure and Syllabus System (IBASS) portal at ibass.jamb.gov.ng/brochure.

According to JAMB, the brochure contains comprehensive information on available courses and institutions, approved subject combinations for each course, special requirements by tertiary institutions, and other admission guidelines that candidates must carefully study before registration.

The syllabus, on the other hand, outlines the specific topics to be covered in each UTME subject, as well as recommended reading texts and learning objectives designed to guide candidates’ study plans and improve their performance in the examination.

JAMB stressed that choosing wrong subject combinations remains one of the major reasons candidates lose admission opportunities every year, even after scoring high marks in UTME. The Board therefore encouraged candidates to verify their course requirements directly from the brochure before selecting institutions and subjects during registration.

The examination body also advised parents, guardians, school owners, and tutorial centres to guide candidates in using the official brochure and syllabus rather than relying on assumptions or outdated information.

With preparations for the 2026 UTME gradually taking shape, JAMB noted that early access to accurate academic requirements will help candidates make informed decisions, avoid costly mistakes, and improve their chances of securing admission into their preferred institutions.

Prospective candidates are therefore encouraged to regularly check JAMB’s official platforms for further updates on registration timelines and examination schedules.
