Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has restated his administration’s resolve to drive visible and sustainable development across the state, stressing that his motivation in office is firmly anchored on improving the lives of Edo residents through impactful projects.
The governor gave the assurance while inspecting several ongoing projects in Udomi, Esan Central Local Government Area. The projects include a 150-bed Edo Specialist Hospital, the Udomi Town Hall designed to serve as an event centre and revenue-generating facility, and the Udomi Holiday Resort, which is planned to feature a golf course, film village, hotel, and other tourism-related infrastructure.

Addressing community stakeholders during the inspection, Governor Okpebholo said his focus in governance is clear and unwavering.
“What is in me is to develop Edo. That is what you are seeing here,” he declared.
He recalled that his long-standing advocacy for modern infrastructure in Edo State is now being translated into concrete action, noting that development must move beyond rhetoric to tangible results that citizens can see and feel.
The governor further emphasized that Edo’s rich cultural and historical heritage should inspire progress rather than limit it. According to him, the state’s early prominence should be a foundation for modernization and growth.
“During my campaign, I kept telling people: why should Edo be an ancient city? We started early as a state. What brought the Portuguese to Edo was what they heard about Edo. Edo cannot continue to be an ancient city. We must improve it and leave it better than the way we met it,” Okpebholo said.
He assured residents that major infrastructural and urban renewal projects, particularly in Benin City, would become evident within the next two years. He added that his administration is committed to ensuring balanced development across Edo State’s three senatorial districts.
“In the next two years, you will see a lot of changes in Benin City. We are going to do it across board because we have three senatorial districts,” the governor stated.
The inspection tour was conducted alongside top government officials and party leaders, including retired General Cecil Isegaigbe, APC Edo Central leader; Sylvester Aigbobor, APC State Deputy Chairman; as well as other senior government and party officials.
