President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised the Super Eagles for their resilience and fighting spirit following Nigeria’s bronze medal finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the President commended the national team for bouncing back from the disappointment of their semi-final exit to host nation Morocco and ending the tournament on a winning note.
Nigeria secured third place after overpowering seven-time African champions Egypt in a dramatic penalty shootout, following a tightly contested encounter in which the Super Eagles showed dominance during regulation time.
President Tinubu noted that the victory was a reflection of the determination and never-say-die attitude for which Nigerians are known, describing the team’s response to adversity as commendable.
“After a strong run in the tournament, the loss to Morocco in the semi-final dashed the hopes of many Nigerians,” the President said. >“But our players refused to be discouraged. They remained focused, displayed the resilience of the Nigerian spirit, and their efforts have now been rewarded.”
He added that Nigerians would take pride in the team as they receive their bronze medals in Rabat, stressing that the achievement was well deserved.

Expressing gratitude to the players and officials, President Tinubu concluded that the bronze medal finish was a worthy reward for their hard work, adding that it “feels as good as gold.”
The Super Eagles’ podium finish brings Nigeria’s AFCON campaign to a positive close, restoring national pride after a challenging semi-final setback.
